COVID-19 cases rise in Victoria (Australia)

In the last 2 weeks a new 116 cases had risen in Australia of which majority are located in the state of Victoria totally amounting to 7460 cases nationwide.

29 of these cases were acquired overseas or people who returned home from another country and are in quarantine zones. The remaining 87 cases are the result of community transmissions.


The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (the AHPPC) had been briefed and made the following statements to the recent events:


· The committee strongly encourages social distancing even in the areas with no cases

· The committee applauses the Victorian government with their measures to control the newly spread of virus.

· The committee strongly advices people in affected areas to stay at home and not leave their premises unless for emergency purposes

· In affected areas, people are strongly encouraged to get tested if they show any covid-19 symptoms such as shortness of breath and high fever.
